Was intrigued with the notion of an Italian Chard, so picked up a bottle. The color of this wine showed some promise...resembles melted butter in appearance. But I couldn't pick-up much butter on the nose, instead got a whole lot of ash, like the smell of a campfire the next morning. As for taste---could barely get a glass down. This wine possesses such an overpowering taste of burnt wood (or burnt popcorn kernels) that, for my palette, was absolutely disgusting, completely undrinkable. This is readily available at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's...but I have NO idea why. Having been thoroughly disappointed by it, I decided to test one of Vaynerchuck's fun and crazy notions, specifically that Chardonnay pairs well with Cinammon Toast Crunch cereal...maybe that would help this wine. It didn't. In fact, it was even more disgusting, if that's possible. But I can say that Cinammon Toast Crunch cereal is pretty tasty. This is a wine from which to flee!

Terraced vineyards above Monterosso al Mare, Cinque Terre, Liguria, Italy, one of the most beautiful places on earth. We've enjoyed the dry white wines native to the region, paired with pesto, a Ligurian specialty.
